Job Summary

PIRE has a significant national presence in the area of applied science with funded research projects at its centers on prevention treatment and policy research. PIRE scientists and practitioners continually focus on the design and implementation of complex program evaluation strategies and the conduct of research related to health and social issues and criminal justice. Position Summary
The Prevention Research Center (PRC) is looking for a Research Associate who will manage the research and evaluation component of a two-year community-partnered tobacco intervention program to develop and test methods to reduce tobacco-related harms among Black men returning to community from incarceration. The PRC staff will develop qualitative and quantitative data collection for formative research in year 1 on which to base the development of a pilot intervention in Year 2. There is some local travel for site visits in the San Francisco Bay Area in this role. The pay for this 75% FTE position is $54680.
Job Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Eligible to work for any employer in the USA
  • Bachelors degree in Public Health Social Work or allied field with 1-2 years of experience and training in applied research
  • Prior experience in community-based participatory research
  • Training and experience in research and evaluation methods
  • Background in system-impacted populations health equity and/or tobacco education outreach and prevention
  • Well-organized and able to work independently as well as in a team with demonstrated ability to work respectfully with African American return community leaders and grassroots community members(bicultural preferred)
  • Applicants may work on their own time for some tasks; however some tasks may involve coordinating with local partners which may include evening and weekend times
  • Able to travel to local sites within and around the SF Bay Area
  • Remote or on-site work allowed (PRC office is in downtown Berkeley)
Some Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Meet regularly with Principal Investigator and community partners to coordinate activities
  • Track compliance with approved milestones and timelines
  • Assist with project oversight and attending to logistical tasks including managing communications with project consultants and vendors
  • Support and manage components of the project (e.g. data collection analysis reporting) including maintaining data systems
  • Coordinate communications with community partners consultants and stakeholders
  • Contribute to reports to funder and community and scientific stakeholders
