Job Summary


The Geotechnical Drilling Coordinator is responsible for planning scheduling and overseeing drilling operations for geotechnical site investigations. This role ensures that drilling activities meet project specifications safety standards and regulatory requirements. The coordinator works closely with engineers drilling crews subcontractors and project managers to deliver accurate subsurface data on time and within budget.

Requirements


Project Planning & Coordination

  • Develop and manage daily and weekly drilling schedules based on project requirements.
  • Review geotechnical investigation plans borehole logs and drilling specifications with project engineers.
  • Determine equipment materials and personnel required for each drilling project.
  • Coordinate mobilization and demobilization of rigs support vehicles and drill teams.

Field Operations Management

  • Oversee drilling crews to ensure proper execution of drilling and sampling.
  • Monitor drilling progress drilling methods and sample quality.
  • Troubleshoot field challenges such as refusal groundwater issues and access constraints.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of drilling activities depths and soil classifications.


Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce health safety and environmental standards at drill sites.
  • Conduct site inspections and safety briefings for crews and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with local state and federal drilling regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date safety documentation permits and hazard assessments.

Communication & Reporting

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between drilling crews geotechnical engineers project managers and clients.
  • Provide real-time updates on drilling progress and site conditions.
  • Review and verify field logs daily reports and chain-of-custody documentation for samples.
  • Assist with the preparation of final site investigation reports as needed.

Equipment & Resource Management

  • Schedule maintenance and inspections for drilling rigs and related equipment.
  • Manage inventory of tools consumables and sampling supplies.
  • Identify equipment needs and coordinate repairs or replacements.
  • Reporting any issues to the supervisor/manager
  • Any other task requested by the supervisor/ manager

Financial Oversight

  • Monitor project budgets and job cost performance across all active projects.
  • Participate in monthly job cost reviews and collaborate with leadership on financial forecasting.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective actions to improve job profitability.
  • Monitor DRI branch P&L to ensure DRI branch is being cost and labor-efficient.


Job Skills & Requirements

  • High school diploma or technical certificate required degree in geology civil engineering or a related field preferred.
  • 37 years of experience in geotechnical drilling or site investigation operations.
  • Prior experience supervising drilling crews or coordinating field operations is desirable.
  • Basic computer skills such as Word and Excel
  • Enjoy working indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Always adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Must be a self-starter reliable and come with a good and humble attitude
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork communication multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Basic Math knowledge.
  • Clean MVR background and drug screening.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Tasks assigned by the supervisor or manager
