- Successful completion of a recognized two (2) year Legal Assistant Diploma program and three (3) years of progressively responsible legal experience in the area of Corporate Law (including contract and construction procedures) and/or Litigation Law (including collection procedures) as required.

21M Salary Grade: 018 $37.54 - $47.16 (Hourly) $2534.40 - $3183.60 (Bi-Weekly) $66146.67 - $83092.94 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) requires one (1) organized professional to provide exceptional paralegal services to the Legal Advisors Section. The successful candidate will perform complex and independent legal work in the context of a variety of legal proceedings. The position is expected to be able to perform such work with minimal supervision while working within strict deadlines. Responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and coordinating large volume record production for complex litigation matters.
- Gathering reviewing analyzing and organizing records including legal records received from various sources for civil litigation matters.
- Redacting documents for privilege confidentiality relevance and internal security issues.
- Drafting reviewing and processing various legal documents with a full understanding of the pleadings used and procedural steps required for civil proceedings.
- Interacting directly with various external counsel and internal departments.
- Responding to requests for information and answering or redirecting queries from EPS personnel and members of the general public including unrepresented litigants.
- General administrative tasks including file management preparing correspondence requesting ICOL memos from members managing legal accounts and ordering supplies.
- Communicating respectfully with staff stakeholders the public and other counsel.
- Managing multiple and often conflicting requests and priorities.
