Job Summary


Job Title: Assistant Manufacturing Manager

Supervisor: Manufacturing Manager

Department: Plant 1

FLSA Status: Hourly

Summary: Support the Manufacturing Manager in all aspects of facility and production management. Provide leadership and supervision to Floor Supervisors Assistant Floor Supervisors Production Workers and Utility Workers. Ensure efficient scheduling quality compliance safety productivity and smooth operations across all Plant 1 production areas.

Essential Duties

  1. Assist in directing through Floor Supervisors the efficient and timely scheduling of production. Report any scheduling or production conflicts to the Manufacturing Manager with recommendations for resolution. Prepare written scheduling information for weekly production meetings.
  2. Oversee finishing and packaging operations ensuring accurate and timely completion.
  3. Support and monitor all metal shop operations ensuring accuracy and timely completion of jobs.
  4. Support and monitor all wood shop operations ensuring accuracy and timely completion of jobs.
  5. Support monitoring of inventory accuracy. Oversee shipping and receiving operations as directed. Assist in the yearly physical inventory process.
  6. Continuously monitor productivity levels in all areas and report deficiencies to the Director of Manufacturing.
  7. Assist in new product development and marketing as needed.
  8. Convey to employees the philosophy of KCARC regarding the provision of job opportunities to people with disabilities.
  9. Supervise and assist in the performance appraisal process for direct and indirect employees; recommend corrective action when needed.
  10. Maintain effective communication with Quality Control Personnel to support efficient manufacturing operations and compliance with ISO standards.
  11. Ensure through first-piece inspection with Quality Control that jobs are set up accurately. Monitor ongoing product quality to ensure acceptable output on all projects.
  12. Control scrap and rework through continuous monitoring of in-process work.
  13. Ensure all accidents and injuries are reported timely and processed correctly. Assist in maintaining OSHA log accuracy. Notify Manufacturing Manager immediately of any injury requiring ambulance or emergency room treatment.
  14. Assume the duties of Quality Control Personnel in their absence.
  15. Monitor daily production progress and notify the Manufacturing Manager of any issues that may affect production flow or shipment of product.
  16. Assist in supervision and training of Floor Supervisors and Assistant Floor Supervisors.
  17. Oversee attendance concerns and report issues as necessary.
  18. Maintain clean safe and orderly work areas in compliance with OSHA and internal safety committee regulations.
  19. Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and lift 100 pounds with assistance if required.

20. All other duties deemed necessary.

21. Additional hours if needed are mandatory.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Valid Drivers License with excellent driving record.
  2. Ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet departmental demands including overtime.
  3. Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  4. Ability to listen and respond appropriately.
  5. Ability to use tact and empathy with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  6. Ability to establish effective working relationships.
  7. Ability to work independently or as part of a team and to plan and organize workload.
  8. Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office products (computer literate).

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in manufacturing plant operations and supervision required.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:

CPR / First Aid
