Head of PE

ROLE SUMMARY:

St Georges International School is seeking a dynamic and passionate Head of Physical Education to lead the delivery of the academic PE curriculum teaching students following the IGCSE and IB Diploma programmes across both Middle School and Senior School while promoting a culture of excellence wellbeing and active learning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership

• Lead manage and inspire the PE curriculum across Middle and Senior School setting high expectations for teaching and student outcomes.

• Develop and implement a clear departmental vision aligned with the schools mission and strategy.

• Oversee assessment examinations and reporting for IGCSE PE and IB SEHS.

• Attend Head of Faculty meetings and contribute to the academic leadership of the school.

Wider Responsibilities

• Manage one of the schools sports academies.

• Support the management and development of sports facilities.

• Coordinate inter-House sports events with Heads of Houses.

• Organise major events such as the annual athletics day and ski trip.

Teaching and Learning

• Teach IGCSE and IB Diploma PE across Middle and Senior School and contribute to Junior School sport provision.

• Ensure effective planning supervision and discipline through structured lesson preparation.

• Deliver engaging inquiry-based lessons that develop core skills and cross-curricular links.

• Maintain high expectations and ensure a positive learning experience for all students.

• Adhere to assessment policies and complete reporting requirements.

• Attend meetings parents evenings and cover lessons when required.

• Provide coaching as part of the extracurricular sports programme.

• Act as Form Tutor supporting students academic progress and wellbeing.

• Serve as a role model and ambassador for the school.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents and support the schools international and multilingual environment.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Experience of teaching IGCSE PE and IBDP Sport Exercise and Health Science.
• Experience in coaching school sport.
• A minimum of 3 years experience with students in a secondary school.
• Confidence with use of ICT in teaching.
• University degree in PE and/or in a related subject.
• Certified Teaching Status.
• Appropriate right to work in Switzerland.
