The Supervisor Billing and Loan Collections Specialist oversees student loan administration activities or accounts receivable collection activities. They ensure compliance with source rules and regulations in accordance with University policies state and federal financial aid regulations the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and associated regulations. The supervisor advises University department administrators on collection activities and policies. With guidance from the Manager and Senior Financial Analyst they coach train and supervise full-time P&S staff. They ensure that documentation of procedures is developed and maintained and assist with cross-training of all team members. Additionally the supervisor supports internal collection activities for the Universitys delinquent accounts receivable and federal and institutional delinquent loan outreach. This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.
Duties to Include:
Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial and audit reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Support student loan administration activities including post loan activity to borrower accounts negotiate loan settlement payments with delinquent borrowers.
Support external collection agency relationships including invoice processing and reconciliation.
With guidance from Manager and Sr. Financial Analyst train and supervise full-time P&S staff on all aspects of internal collections student loan administration and account reconciliation. Monitor assign and review work for quality assurance
Location: Hybrid within Iowa (initial in-office training period required)
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Typically requires (one-year) administrative and/or accounting experience to include report preparation working collaboratively in a team environment and account reconciliations
Typically requires (one-year) excellent customer service skills interacting in person on the phone or via email
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office software applications
Demonstrated competence analytical skills and report presentation using MS Excel spreadsheet software or other similar software.
Demonstrated logic reasoning and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability in statistical and financial analysis and presentation
Experience working with confidential information
Desired Qualifications:
Three years of administrative and/or accounting experience to include report preparation working collaboratively in a team environment and account reconciliations
Some knowledge of University systems policies and procedures
Some knowledge of accounts receivable management collections loan administration and
accounting experience
Some knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Access or other database systems
Some experience with functional supervision or training of full-time and/or student employees
