Job Summary:

As a high school junior in this co-op opportunity youll work closely with Registered Nurses in the Interventional Radiology (IR) department at GMC in Danville.

IR nurses work with radiologists and technologists on minimally invasive image-guided procedures using X-rays CT scans and ultrasound.

Job Duties:

Assist the nursing team to prep patients monitor them during sedation and provide post-procedure care making sure theyre safe comfortable and have great outcomes. If your students are curious about high-tech medicine and love hands-on care IR nursing is a dynamic and rewarding path worth exploring!

This is a great opportunity for hands on learning for those interested in nursing and Radiology.

The IR nursing co-op opportunity will be located at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville only.

The IR nursing co-op opportunity is limited.

Must be a high school junior.

Must attach a resume to application as required for the co-op. Please indicate your year in high school on your resume. Must be a current junior.

The co-op program is an educational and clinical work experience for the high school students. The individual is responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of patient care tasks. The performance of tasks allows the care team to provide quality care.

  • Assist with patient care

  • Assist with patient transfer

  • Assist in care and maintenance of equipment and technology

  • Assist with clerical responsibilities

  • Suggest areas of improvement

Position Details:

  • The position will focus on providing patient care within a clinical scope of practice.
  • Fulfills designated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care (non-assessment).
  • Identifies observes and documents the physical needs of the patient according to standards.
  • Assists with patient transfer and transport as needed.
  • Assists in problem solving trouble shooting and taking corrective measures in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Assists in clerical responsibilities as required for task completion.
  • Suggests issues for improvement and offer solutions on issues.
