The Program Nurse supports the Medical Services Department of Mary Hall Freedom Village by providing intake nursing assessments nursing care and ongoing health and medical services of the organization in a systematic and consistent manner. Participates actively in the development of competencies of the medical services of the organization to meet the goals and objectives outlined in the mission of the organization.
In this role you will perform a wide range of duties during shifts including providing compassionate care and educating participants about their medical and mental health conditions as well as medications. Building trust and rapport with participants is crucial in this role. Work effectively with the medical team and facility leadership team
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducting intake nursing assessments and ongoing health assessments as needed.
- Assess the medical psychiatric and mental health needs of participants to determine the urgency of their needs and expedite treatment as required.
- Ability to complete appropriate documentation within the required period after program admission.
- Maintains accurate medical records.
- Safe preparation monitoring and documentation of participant medications.
- Monitor medications and document in participants electronic medical record.
- Ability to take verbal orders from the medical provider documents them in the participants electronic medical record and carries them out accurately and professionally.
- Effectively communicate concerns about participant health to appropriate personnel and follows up as necessary.
- Provide documentation which reflects services for each participant in accordance with licensure standards and agency policies and procedures.
- Educates participants about medications health issues and medical conditions.
- Provide routine nursing care under the supervision of the Medical Director and Nurse Practitioner.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining medical and/or behavioral health data reports to be submitted on a monthly quarterly and annual basis.
- Maintains awareness and knowledge of current trends and techniques guiding medical services for participants in the behavioral health field.
- Consistently meets facility and regulatory training requirement by attending all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Document accurate count of controlled substance medication administration according to policy.
- Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately as directed.
- Exhibit therapeutic rapport with participants by maintaining professional boundaries respecting personal space giving participants direct attention and maintaining rational detachment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position holds no supervisory responsibilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree in nursing
- Licensed to practice in the state of Georgia (unrestricted)
- BLS Certification
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Registered Nurse
- Substance Use Disorder experience preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS CAPABILITIES KNOWLEDGE
- To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of and be able to use a computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledgeable of the disease of addiction and evidence-based treatment.
- Familiar with common medications used in SUD and mental health populations.
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
