LOCATION: Salford Dock House 1 day a week Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: up to 57000 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The BBC is one of the UKs most well-known and loved brands. The iPlayer product teams build some of the BBCs most used and valued products. Our mission is to be the first place for anybody to go to watch BBC content. The iPlayer Catalogue (Video Content Catalogue) team is responsible for creating and maintaining content catalogues that powers consistent experience across the iPlayer product and partner platforms.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:


Building excellently engineered highly available solutions using agile development practices.
Contributing to a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
Collaborating effectively to deliver the best value audience experience.
Working in a DevOps model including solving operational issues and providing out-of-hours support.
Sharing knowledge learning new skills and adapting to change.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


Essential Criteria:

Expertise designing building and supporting modern back-end Cloud based applications using Typescript/JavaScript NodeJS and AWS
Expertise in Cloud architecture and key technologies (CloudFormation Lambda SQS S3 DynamoDB)
Expertise in modern development tools and practices (e.g. CI/CD DevOps Pair Programming TDD)
Proven track record of building software solutions with consideration to product value and non-functional requirements (e.g. observability maintainability and DevEx).
Developing software with scale security and reliability in mind.

Desired:

Experience developing systems using microservices architecture
Experience developing systems using event driven architecture
