Our Europe operations are located in London and Dublin and are part of our Global Banking & Markets (GBM) business. GBM provides a full range of investment banking credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients.

Our products include debt and equity financing mergers & acquisitions corporate banking institutional equity sales trading and research fixed income products derivatives energy foreign exchange and precious metals. We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by the Scotiabank Group.

Programme Overview:

Scotiabank offers an exciting opportunity to join the London-based Group Treasury team of a Canadian Bank commencing in June 2026.

This 10-week programme is designed for students in their first year of study (or second year of a four year degree) who are eager to learn and have a passion for Treasury.

The programme offers experience across multiple financial market products providing the opportunity to gain insight into the daily workings of the following Treasury areas:

  • Liquidity and Balance Sheet Management

-Unsecured funding

-Secured funding

-Liquidity Portfolio

-Management of nostro account and daily cash positions using foreign exchange (FX) spot and forwards positions

-Interest rate risk

-Corporate lending

-Regulatory risk and management

  • Marketing

-Sourcing funding with external customers

-Internal customers in support of sourcing funding

What You Can Expect:

  • In support of Treasury activities work closely with key internal stakeholders i.e. Capital Markets Sales & Trading and Debt Capital Markets Market & Liquidity Risk (TFRM) Management Finance Global Transactional Banking Sales and Operations to develop a strong understanding of financial markets and products with the opportunity to apply knowledge to real world situations
  • Shadowing dealers to learn risk management techniques and develop key deal execution skills
  • Completing projects set by the team which includes preparing market commentary booking and managing the cycle of corporate loans understanding the balance sheet and it risks and other ad hoc tasks
  • Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Complete an intern project assignment and present to leaders within Group Treasury

  • Peer to peer intern presentations

  • A CSR project that supports one of our charity partners

Who Were Looking For:

  • You are a first-year undergraduate student (or second-year on a four-year degree)
  • You are available for a 10-week internship between mid-June to end of August 2026
  • You have a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the financial markets
  • You have strong MS office skills e.g. advanced MS Excel and can practically apply these to solve problems
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • You have the ability to overcome challenges presented by a constantly changing work environment
  • You are eligible to work in the United Kingdom
