The opportunity

At EY Law LLP we are continuously seeking skilled U.S. Business Immigration Senior Law Clerks who are eager to contribute to our mission of providing integrated high-quality services to our clients.

U.S. Business Immigration Senior Law Clerks support companies and their employees in efficiently relocating wherever needed by utilizing our comprehensive range of U.S. business immigration services including assistance with immigrant green card and non-immigrant temporary work visa statuses as well as providing tailored advisory services to meet the unique needs of clients. Law Clerks manage multiple challenging engagements bringing innovative solutions and ideas to our diverse institutional clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Utilize your technical legal and procedural understanding of U.S. business immigration processes including PERM NIV and IV law and effectively apply this knowledge to client situations.
  • On instruction from the lawyer research current processing requirements at service centers/consulates.
  • Manage the lifecycle of applications including document collection drafting reviewing editing and submission of packages.
  • Collect information and documentation from HR contacts and applicants.
  • Using available resources draft complete application packages for review by the supervising lawyer.
  • Ensure that applications are filed in a timely manner.
  • Meet with lawyers to discuss questions raised by the client and relate information back to the client or applicant.
  • Draft emails in response to queries by clients and notify them of updates to their applications.
  • Delegate appropriate work to support staff such as completion of forms copying of documents and mailing out application packages.
  • Follow up with immigration authorities on pending applications.
  • Conduct electronic data entry including billing and general client information in the applicant tracking system.
  • Ensure that lawyers are advised of client-related issues.
  • Collaborate in preparing and presenting training sessions on the firms processes best practices and U.S. business immigration regulations.
  • Attend seminars and professional development courses relevant to your area of specialty.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate University Degree College Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 2 or more years of U.S. business immigration experience.
  • Excellent organizational verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

  • A proven ability to work independently within a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • A knack for multi-tasking and managing a variety of projects effectively.
  • A strong sense of professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information.

The salary range for this job in British Columbia is $60000 to $120000. Individual salaries within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education experience knowledge skills and work location city.
