Job Summary:
- As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Reports to:
- Director of Physician Practices
FLSA:
Education:
- Graduate of an approved practical nursing program
License:
- Current LPN/PN to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and be in good standing with the Board of health Professions
Certifications:
- BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer
Minimum Work Experience:
- Knowledge of ICD-9 ICD-10 CPT codes insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds Required
Essential Functions
- Under the direction of an RN contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
- Performs plan of care interventions including specimen collection and wound care.
- May administer medication. Documents patient care given.
- Assists RN with development of plan of care.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living including personal hygiene elimination nutrition and ambulation.
- Monitors documents and communicates patients status and reactions to interventions with RN physician patient and families.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
- Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.
Other Requirements
- Attends clinic meetings.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
- Reports all incidents hazards drug interactions and initiate appropriate action.
- Completes safety instructional programs.
- Assists other team members when time permits.
