Responsibilities

We are a 31-bed inpatient surgical care unit
providing high-quality compassionate treatment for
medical surgical and trauma patients. Our common
diagnoses include:
Diverticulitis Colorectal cancer
Cholecystitis Appendicitis
PVD Decubitus ulcers
Small bowel obstruction
Pneumothorax and other trauma related injuries
The major surgeries we care for are general
vascular gynecological colorectal oral/ENT and
trauma-related surgeries.

The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  2. Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  3. Must hold Certified in American Heart Associations Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:

  1. BSN degree
  2. Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
  3. Additional Life Support credential (ACLS PALS NRP etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications in specific units.
  4. Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
