Hours: Evening shift 12p-10:30p (includes 30-minutes meal break) Sunday Wednesday
Summary of need: To provide nursing interventions and medication administration consistent with the established systematic problem-solving approach for the delivery of comprehensive nursing care which are compliant with the regulatory standards in a juvenile correctional setting.
Facility Overview: Finger Lakes Residential Center (FLRC) is located seven miles north of the city of Ithaca. Youth served at Finger Lakes Residential Center are male juvenile offenders. Depending upon the sentence youth may remain in OCFS custody until the age of 21. FLRC is accredited by the American Correctional Association. Free parking is available on-site. The dress code is business casual or scrubs. Currently there are no vaccine requirements. Supervision staff will be present when the employee is providing nursing care to youth.
Job Duties: Job duties include but may not be limited to
Maintaining general medical inventory (including controlled substances)
Conducting medication administration
Reviewing the overall health conditions of youth (i.e. preparing reviewing and evaluating nursing intervention plans)
Ensuring that interventions are consistent with comprehensive treatment plans
Participating in staff trainings
Preparing required clinical and administrative reports
Maintain infection control standards
Serve as a member of the facilitys medical treatment team.
Additional duties to be discussed in detail during the interview.
Qualifications: Licensed and registered to practice nursing in New York State.
Background Investigation Requirements
1) All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC) which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information.
2) All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR).
3) Prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
