Key Areas of the Role
Purpose:
To provide a security service at the working location in line with Assignment Instructions and customer requirements ensuring protection of employees property and assets.
The role emphasizes delivering high levels of customer service aligned with Securitas core values: Integrity Vigilance and Helpfulness.
Note: The Security Officer must have a full SIA licence before starting operational shifts.
Responsibilities:
Protection of Property and Premises:
- Prevent and deter unauthorized access; monitor fire alarms intruder alarms and CCTV.
- Conduct external and internal security patrols as per Assignment Instructions.
- Provide traffic control and apply parking restrictions.
- Carry out routine tests of security equipment.
- Manage keys and perform locking/unlocking duties.
- Ensure customer and Securitas equipment is managed per procedures.
- Maintain logbooks and records.
- Issue visitor/contractor passes.
- Deal with lost property.
Health and Safety:
- Provide guidance and information to staff visitors and contractors.
- Ensure safeguarding of premises.
- Record and report faults hazards and unsafe practices.
- Report accidents and emergencies; ensure emergency routes are kept clear.
- Report First Aid equipment shortages and maintain First Aid boxes.
- Notify Securitas Operations Centre in emergencies and follow instructions.
- Investigate fire alarm activations.
Additional Responsibilities
Prevent Loss and Waste
- Report instances of property at risk of being lost stolen damaged or vandalized.
- During patrols switch off unnecessary lights and close windows.
Prevent and Deter Crime
- Operate radios pagers clocking equipment and other physical security equipment.
- Implement customers stop and search policies when required.
- Carry out initial investigations and report incidents verbally and in writing (covering suspicious activities objects and vehicles).
Customer Service
- Display an outstanding level of customer service.
- Take responsibility for problems that staff and visitors may have.
- Maintain the highest standard of personal presentation and uniform to uphold Securitas and customer image.
- Answer telephone calls professionally and in accordance with Assignment Instructions.
Other Responsibilities
- Book on at the beginning of each shift and make check calls per company policy.
- Complete paperwork promptly and conduct effective handovers.
- Undertake other duties as requested by Branch Management.
- Demonstrate understanding and engagement with Securitas Core Values: Integrity Vigilance Helpfulness.

Person Specification (Essential)
- Must be working towards acquiring a valid SIA Licence.
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
- Must be over 18.
Qualifications :
Essential Criteria
- Must have a five-year checkable employment history or provide documentary evidence for any gaps (unemployment self-employment education).
- No current criminal convictions.
- A full UK driving licence and own transport is desirable.
- Ability to embody and uphold Securitas core values: Integrity Vigilance Helpfulness.
- Excellent communication skills and strong customer focus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Willing and able to work shifts covering days nights and weekends.
Desirable
- Prior experience as a Security Officer in the security industry.
- A First Aid qualification would be advantageous.
