We are seeking the immediate hire of aCommercial Building Inspectorfor Columbia South Carolina.

The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Regions Business Unit Manager. They will be responsible for performing daily inspections on residential and commercial construction projects and other assignments as directed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs scheduled assignments between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday Friday
  • Completes daily duties responsibly and safely with respect to private and personal property.
  • Readily communicates with staff citizens teammates and builder/contractors as necessary.
  • Maintains detailed records and reports of all inspections and compliance cases.
  • Assists client staff and team members whenever necessary.
  • Updates files answersphone calls and schedulesinspections as necessary.
  • Maintains ICC certifications and professional credentials. Securesadditional ICC certifications attendstraining opportunities and consistentlystudiescodes and standards as related to work requirements.

Requirements:
We will consider any equivalent combination of education training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities needed for this job.

  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. We prefer supplemental additional trainingin building inspection structural engineering or a related field. An Associates Degree in engineering architecture building inspection or related field or equivalent ICC certification level is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years experience as a building construction inspector is required.
  • Must have a valid South Carolina drivers license.
  • Certifications:
    • ICC Commercial Inspector (required)
    • ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector (preferred)
    • ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector (preferred)

Required Knowledge Abilities & Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of building and related municipal codes building inspection methods and techniques and construction materials methods and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to operate work-related technology (laptop tablet iPhone) and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Capable of following directions and asking pertinent clarifying questions.
  • Maintains a professional appearance attitude and conduct.
  • Self- disciplined and able to work without direct supervision. Works well with people and performs as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solves problems and has a positive attitude while establishing and maintaining relationships.

  • The starting wage range for this role commences at $70000 per year up to $75000 per year. It is subject to potential increases that are contingent on factors like experience education licenses or certifications.
