Position: In-Home Special Education Paraprofessional ( School Year)POSITION SUMMARY:The In-Home Special Education Paraprofessional provides individualized instructional and behavioral support to a student receiving educational services in the home environment as part of an IEP or district placement plan. This position works collaboratively with the supervising special education teacher service providers and family members to ensure consistent implementation of the students educational behavioral and therapeutic paraprofessional will:Support and act in accordance with all district goals policies Massachusetts General Laws and applicable federal and state special education appropriate roles as adult model and educator in the home knowledge of the students needseducational behavioral medical sensory and social/emotionalas identified by the multidisciplinary team and implement individualized strategies strict confidentiality regarding all matters pertaining to students and effective organizational skills time management and flexibility to meet the needs of the student and the instructional in required training and team meetings (virtually or in-person as scheduled).Assume additional duties as assigned by the Special Education Coordinator or supervising :Paraeducator license or completion of 60 semester hours of college credit from a regionally accredited institution or an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution or a valid Massachusetts Educator experience working with students with disabilities preferred especially in home community or therapeutic to travel to and from the students home (reimbursement per district policy if applicable).CPR/First Aid certification FUNCTIONS:Planning and PreparationReview and follow individualized educational behavioral and safety plans developed by the IEP and organize materials for home instruction sessions as directed by the supervising collect and record data on student progress behavior and instructional materials and assistive technology are set up and functioning properly in the home and SupportImplement individualized instructional activities under the direction of the supervising teacher or learning objectives and assist the student in achieving academic functional and behavioral the student in developing self-help communication and independence established behavior intervention and reinforcement social and emotional growth through structured and natural regularly with the supervising teacher regarding daily activities observations and student Environment and SafetyMaintain a professional presence and appropriate boundaries within the home to all district health and safety protocols including hygiene confidentiality and incident the learning area is organized and conducive to the supervising teacher or administrator immediately of any safety or behavioral ResponsibilitiesMaintain positive and respectful communication with the students family while directing all educational questions to appropriate in scheduled team meetings trainings and accurate documentation of service delivery attendance and reliability punctuality and professionalism in all confidentiality and district standards for ethical FUNCTIONS:Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional and behavioral support other related duties as assigned to ensure the effective delivery of in-home educational :Responsibilities include working under the direct supervision of the supervising teacher and/or special education coordinator implementing individualized programs using standardized procedures and communicating observations and updates promptly. The role requires independent judgment and professionalism in a home-based setting with continual opportunity to impact the students educational REQUIRED:Demonstrated reliability professionalism and communication and interpersonal skills with students families and to work independently in the home environment while following established and responsiveness to changing needs or with data collection and basic technology (e.g. tablets Google Workspace assistive devices).Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and assist with mobility if required by the students ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed primarily in a private home setting with occasional travel to school or community locations. Requires sitting standing bending lifting and other physical activity as necessary to support the students needs. Exposure to normal household conditions and potential risk of illness or injury associated with supporting students with medical or behavioral REQUIREMENTS:Excellent oral and written communication organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all performance evaluation $19.75 - $24.43 depending on experience
