Job Summary
Visa Technology & Operations LLC a Visa Inc. company needs a Staff Data Engineer (multiple openings) in Foster City CA to
- Assemble large complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
- Create and tune complex SQL for views across federated sources including Hadoop DB2 and Oracle.
- Collaborate with product management / product owners on defining user experience demos and training.
- Collaborate with BI report developers on design for optimal performance.
- Assist on data analytics projects involving data modeling and architecture.
- Assist on building integration with other data / metadata tools in the architecture.
- Assist on some database administration tasks for the data virtualization platform.
- Use business requirements to document clear and concise technical designs.
- Maintain design and naming standards.
- Contribute to project planning discussions provide status updates for development progress and be a critical resource for issue resolution.
- Position reports to the Foster City California office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
Qualifications :
Basic Qualifications:
- Employer will accept a Masters degree in Computer Science or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Data Engineer related occupation.
- Experience can be gained through academic coursework and/or work experience.
- Position requires experience in the following:
- Object oriented programming in Java Golang Python or similar;
- Procedural programming in Shell C or similar;
- Understanding of network protocol such as TCP/IP ICMP PRP HSR LLDP and CIP;
- Distributed systems;
- Cloud Infrastructure;
- Continuous integration and continuous delivery experience; and
- Relational and nonrelational databases.

Worksite: Foster City CA
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site) with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk communicate in person and by telephone frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $146200.00 to $233700.00 USD per year which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge skills experience and addition this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
