Job Summary
Leidos Dynetics Advanced Materials Department is seeking a passionate detail-oriented problem-solver to serve as Materials Engineering Intern in Summer of 2026. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense space cyber and commercial fields Leidos provides responsive cost-effective engineering scientific and IT solutions.
The Advanced Materials Department is a multi-disciplinary team that provides materials engineering expertise for every phase of a program. With backgrounds in materials science chemistry/chemical engineering physics among others the department has experience in executing a variety of efforts from R&D to prototype development to supporting design and build tasks for manufacturing. Beyond subject matter expertise the department has the analysis equipment multi-physics modelling capability and experimental lab space to support activities ranging from proof-of-concept experimentation to manufacturing support.
Primary Responsibilities:
- As an integral member of the Advanced Materials Department the successful candidate will serve as Materials Engineering Intern. This position will balance multiple activities including but not limited to:
- Solving complex engineering challenges with both analytical and experimental approaches.
- Working closely with their mentor on various support tasks beneficial to both the interns skill development and to the needs of the programs the department supports.
Basic Qualifications:
- Working towards a degree in Materials Mechanical Aerospace or Chemical Engineering Physics Chemistry or equivalent from an ABET accredited institution.
- Fundamental understanding of Materials Science and Engineering principles and interest in applying these to solve complex problems through analytical and/or laboratory investigations.
- Solid technical communication skills and an ability to work in both collaborative team environments and independently.
- Must be a resident of North Alabama area or willing to relocate in order to work on-site at the Huntsville AL office
- Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to stay focused and succeed in dynamic and fast paced environments
- Experience assembling and providing technical briefings and clear guidance to non-technical audiences

Pay Range:
Pay Range $46800.00 - $84600.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
