We are seeking an Electrical Product Engineering Manager for a full time and direct hire role with one of our amazing partners in Indiana. This role will require you to work onsite.
Overview:
You will join the Product Development Quality and Regulatory team that researches and develops new technologies and integrates them into new products. You will be responsible for the performance of the products and how they work. You will set the direction for assigned projects and then execute on it as a lead engineer. The core focus of this role is always technology R&D so you must have a deep technical mastery of your field. You should be a creative problem solver who possesses an intuitive grasp of physics and engineering fundamentals. You should be passionate about solving the tough engineering challenges required to be the first to deliver innovative new products to market. You must also be able to work think and communicate cross-functionally as part of a broader product development team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop product ID engineering specifications tooling & mold.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations by product line and create detailed bills of materials (BOMs).
- Ensure that the product design aligns with user experience and usability goals.
- Product release for production process.
- Participate in design reviews brainstorming sessions and team meetings to contribute ideas and insights.
- Ensure that the product meets quality standards and complies with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop and implement testing strategies and quality control processes.
- Work closely with cross functional teams to understand customer needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Design and build prototypes set up and execute test plans to learn how things work analyze data to pull out deeper insights and put all these learnings into action by making design changes to the products.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including product specifications design documentation and test plans.
- Provide regular updates on project status milestones and risks to stakeholders.
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate product progress technical challenges and proposed solutions.
- Collaborate with national and industry standards associations to make entire test and certification activities including Intertek ETL UL etc.
- Collaborate with suppliers for new product designs and active product changes and then provide end-to-end guidance as needed.
- Continuously stay involved in the full product lifecycle from early-stage concept development to mass production.
- Communicate and collaborate with engineering marketing sales and support teams to ensure a cohesive product engineering strategy.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitor products using insights to guide product engineering decisions.
Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience in product design with a focus on electrical and electro-mechanical product development.
- Experience in electronic design is a valuable asset.
- Solid foundation in both mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
- Proven experience designing developing and launching electrical equipment and devices such as circuit breakers switches and power control panels including fundamental understanding of market demands user needs and regulatory requirements specific to the related industry.
- Strong de-bugging skills with a demonstrable ability to solve problems under pressure and tight time constraints.
- Able to conduct early-stage R&D experiments to understand and identify key product features or parameters that drive product performance.
- Willing to roll up sleeves and dive into hands-on development and testing workstreams.
- Expertise using CAD software to create detailed 2D and 3D models renderings and technical drawings.
- Able to create evaluate and optimize the product designs and BOMs through NPD and VAVE processes.
- Familiar with electric (circuits power transmission & distribution control systems) electromechanics and electronics (analog/digital) test equipment and components common in the related applications (sensors motors PCBAs etc.).
- Familiar with production processes such as injection molding metal fabrication assembly packaging etc.
- Solid analytical skills attention to detail and relentless drive to identify potential problems and take responsibility for their resolution.
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities while maintaining focus on long-term projects and strategic objectives.
- Familiar with MS Office applications (Excel PowerPoint Word).
- Bachelors or masters degree in engineering (EE and Mechanical or related disciplines).
