Position Summary
Seeking a dedicated part-time docent/guide to join the Center for Lake Erie Education and Research team. This role is essential for ensuring smooth daily operations including - Welcoming visitors to the open and accessible center space - Assisting visitors with the proper use of interactive exhibit technology within the center - Cleaning touch screens and other exhibit items when not otherwise engaged or as appropriate - Communicating listening and sharing thoughts and ideas with visitors based upon interactive exhibits. NACE Competencies: Career & Self Development Worker will gain an awareness of their strengths and weaknesses through active engagement with the public. Communication Worker will clearly and effectively share information about the proper usage of technology within the center. Critical Thinking Worker will monitor and respond to needs of visitors to the center based upon situational context and logical analysis. Equity and Inclusion Worker will work to ensure all people feel welcomed safe and included within the center space. Leadership Worker will employ their strengths to achieve the overall mission of the center. Professionalism Worker will recognize their role within the public library and act in the interest of Gannon University and the larger community. Teamwork Worker will work collaboratively inclusively and effectively with other team members to create a hospitable work environment and achieve the overall mission of the center. Technology Worker will clearly and effectively share information about the proper usage of technology within the center.
Physical Demands
This position requires minimal physical demands but applicants should be able to safely lift 25 pounds and sit and/or stand for extended periods of time; be able to work in a busy environment
Required Qualifications
Willingness to learn about the exhibits Timely and dependable Welcoming and inclusive demeanor Excellent English written and oral skills
Preferred Qualifications
Multi-lingual BS in environmental science or a related field
