The Apprenticeship;

An apprenticeship is a paid job where the employee learns and gains valuable real-life experiences.

We are looking for 2 apprentices to join our Sales and Marketing team located at our Peterborough facility (PE1 5FQ). Collaborating with virtually every part of our business our Sales and Marketing team are the doers that support dealer efforts train customers sell products and launch campaigns. They also gain an end-to-end understanding of our business as well as the industry knowledge thats always in demand.

Our apprentices will:

  • earn a competitive salary package starting at c. 24931 per year

  • receive 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

In collaboration with our partnered training provider De Montfort University Leicester our 3-year degree apprenticeship scheme will enable you to grow and develop your capabilities. Alongside on-the-job training supported by relatable mentors apprentices will spend at least 20% of their working hours completing university-based learning leading to nationally recognised qualifications through the Level 6 Chartered Manager apprenticeship standard:

As part of this apprenticeship apprentices are required to attend university on a block release basis and therefore will be required to travel. Upon completion of the apprenticeship apprentices can apply for Chartered Manager status.

The Experience

Apprentice will undertake various six-month placements in the differing functional areas including Sales Marketing (Product Marketing Promotions Exhibition Management Brand Management) Future Technologies i.e. batteries alternative fuels Aftermarket Parts (including digital) and the Strategy Team.

Within each placement we look to develop solid personal learning and development experiences combined with formal developmental training. At the same time we look to the apprentice to deliver solid business contributions which may be as part of a 6 Sigma team Project team shaping and delivering a customer visit or developing a sales proposition in support securing new business.

Given the global focus of our business placements can include overseas travel on occasion.

Work will include but not be limited to:

  • Understanding customer needs and developing product requirements to deliver customer value.

  • Maintaining existing relationships with customers and winning new business from our competitors.

  • Analysing data to understand the current and future market and customer needs.

  • Analysing new opportunities and defining our brand and product positioning.

  • Developing and executing strategies to take our new product to market.

Entry Requirement

  • GCSEs: Maths and English GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above.

  • A-Levels:Minimum of 112 points from 3 A-Levels.

NOTE: Equivalent academic qualifications to the above requirements are welcome. You can apply with predicted grades. If youre successful at the interview stage the job offer will be conditional on you achieving the required grades before September 2026.

Go Live:1st December 2025

Interview/Assessment Centre Day (in-person):Between 30th March - 10th April 2026

Engagement Day (in-person):2nd July 2026 (provisional)

Employment Start Date:7th September 2026 (provisional)

The panel cannot make assumptions when shortlisting therefore please demonstrate your skills and experience on your application relevant to the criteria the number of applications the criteria for the position may be enhanced to facilitate shortlisting.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please only apply for a maximum of two apprenticeship schemes. You may be given the opportunity of being considered for other schemes at a later stage.

Recruitment Process

Stage one Online Application: The first stage of the process is to complete the online application; this must be done before the closing date of the role that youre applying for. Once we reach the close date we will begin reviewing all our applications this may take a little while and we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know if you have been successful in moving forward to the next stage.

Stage two Video Interview: If selected you will be invited to complete a pre-recorded video interview. You will have one week to record and submit your responses and you may re-record your answers multiple times if you would like additional practice. Please remember to check your spam or junk folder for the invitation. Following the video interview your application will be reviewed and if successful you will be considered for an in-person Assessment Centre

Stage three Assessment Centre: The half day assessment centre (i.e. interview) will look at a range of behaviours such as teamwork decision-making communication and problem-solving. Each will consist of a group exercise an interview and a presentation. Details will vary depending on the career area/role you are applying for. We aim to make these days fun inclusive and as relaxed as possible.

Stage four Offer: After the assessment centre the Caterpillar team will review the feedback and extend offers to our chosen candidates we aim to do this as quickly as possible.

We hold an Engagement Day for all new apprentices to provide you with an opportunity to meet fellow new starters across the facility before your employment start date. Apprentices will join the business in September 2026.
