The Role

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will be the technical liaison between product engineering purchasing manufacturing and our supply this role the Supplier Quality Engineer will work with suppliers to resolve manufacturing and quality issues oversee APQP for new programs and provide supplier development leadership throughout the lifecycle of a commodity for GM Defense programs.

What Youll Do

  • Supplier compliance with APQP and PPAP approval requirements.
  • Reviewing and approving quality plans (Control Plans PFMEA) for new components and assemblies.
  • Reviewing and auditing supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Facilitating root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues.
  • Performing on-site supplier visits to root cause and verify correction actions of supplier quality issues.
  • Performing PPAP and Run-at-rate verifications audits and periodic compliance monitoring.
  • Improving quality performance of suppliers by conducting onsite workshops at supplier locations providing technical assistance in developing a robust quality system or other technical support as required.
  • Providing technical assistance during supplier launch change-over and ongoing production activities.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree is required. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Industrial Electrical Manufacturing Welding Plastics Materials Chemical) preferred or an equivalent Technical Degree
  • Five years of experience in quality engineering and/or manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes procedures tooling equipment and facilities.
  • Ability to investigate quality problems and to apply sound technical judgment to develop solutions.
  • Proficient in print reading and interpretation part measurement gage design and function.
  • Knowledge of geometric design and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of statistical quality control and design of experiments.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% (domestic and international).
  • Candidate must either be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen U.S. permanent resident asylee or refugee) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required export control authorization.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Masters degrees technical or quality certifications
  • OEM or Tier 1 experience in automotive.
  • Quality engineering supplier quality and/or manufacturing quality.
  • Quality Systems Planning (APQP) including PPAP.
  • Product engineering and/or program management.
  • Statistical Problem Solving (Red X DFSS DMAIC).
  • Manufacturing Process and/or Tool Engineering.
  • Experienced in software such as Teamcenter VisMockup or other 3d CAD.
