Duration: 12months(renewable)

The position is only open to nationals or residents with a legal permit/ID to work in Ashdod.

The job holder will implement well-defined standard logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective delivery of goods and services for all delivery modalities.

How can you make a difference

Under the supervision of Supply Chain Officer the Logistics Assistant will:

  • Provide support to ensure the timely facilitation and management of the customs process for WFP food commodities and non-food items as well as coordinate with the concerned WFP staff and stakeholders to ensure customs clearance of commodities.

  • Provide support to logistics operations and activities following standard processes and facilitating directly or indirectly the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.

  • Attend at loading sites to coordinate the loading operation communicate with transporters drivers warehouse management and other involved parties.

  • Assist in management of commodity accounting data quality and integrity.

  • Process documentation for execution of logistics operations (e.g. customs clearance invoice verification) take appropriate actions to resolve operational issues escalating various issues to the supervisor.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support efficient logistics operations management.

  • Support the monitoring of WFP trucks including but not limited to reporting of truck and commodity details and cargo status for trucks and commodities crossing through the different border crossings into Gaza

  • Support the monitoring of commodities at WFP warehouses including receipt of trucks counting of WFP commodities received and commodities stored at the WFP warehouses.

  • Ensure the Cart Note and/or relevant documentation is completed with correct and accurate information and is passed onto the required stakeholder.

  • Identify and report on any supply chain challenges identified at the crossing including but not limited to missing documentation challenges with monitoring the trucks and commodities and cargo status including any damaged or missing commodities.

Due to the nature of the post the job holder is expected to adapt to flexible working hours as:

  • Default working schedule: 08:30 16:00

  • If there is loading operation: 04:30 -13:00

  • If there is loading operation planned on Friday the job holder may be requested to work overtime. Consequently the job holder will be eligible for compensational time off.

To join us in saving lives changing lives you will have:

Education:

Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in Business Administration project management Logistics and Supply Chain Management or and related disciplines is desirable.

Experience:

5 years of work experience in logistics assessments and management and/or as a Logistics Assistant or similar relevant work experience in a private company humanitarian organization and dealing with logistics operations or in any related field of work. The following experience would be considered as desirable:

  • Experience using corporate systems to monitor ongoing shipments pipeline information insurance claims and food stock.

  • Experience analyzing data (on commodities funds etc.) and drafting reports.

  • Experience in measuring service providers performance against set KPIs.

  • Experience in assisting the preparation of contract documentation.

  • Experience in providing technical business support in corporate systems.

  • Experience in managing customs procedures and processes.

Language:

- Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Hebrew.

- Knowledge of Arabic would be preferrable.
