Medical Assistant - Asthma/Allergy/Immunology Clinic

We have an immediate opening for a full-time Medical Assistant to work at our Murray Allergy Asthma and Immunology clinic location.
Pay Rate: $17 - $22 per hour
Schedule: this will be full time working 4 days a week with one day off in the week along with nights and weekends off. Hours are Monday - Friday 8:45 - 5:00 PM.
Overview:
- Candidate will work closely with physicians and support staff to provide patient care including: telephone triage insurance authorizations recording of vital signs (blood pressure temperature etc.) administration of immunizations phlebotomy maintenance of exam rooms and filing.
Knowledge Skills and Experience:
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
- 12 years of medical office experience
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Typing skills: minimum of 40 words per minute (WPM)
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems (e.g. Epic)
- Ability to document patient interactions accurately and efficiently
- Proficiency with email scheduling software and basic word processing
- Attention to detail with accurate data entry critical for maintaining patient safety and HIPAA compliance
- Excellent customer service skills; able to communicate courteously and effectively with patients
- Dependable flexible and able to multitask
- Enjoys working with people being a team player and willing to assist others with tasks
- Proficient in reading writing and communicating in English
- Able to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing with physicians clinic staff and patients
- Additional languages are helpful but not required
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Record all demographic information necessary to contact patients and do prior authorization for medications and procedures.
- Prepare patients for exams and supply the provider with all relevant information (lab results vital signs medications allergies).
- Communicate with patients regarding their appointment scheduling and other needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Standing and walking for extended periods Lifting up to 50lbs.
- Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and other office equipment.
- Inside climate-controlled working conditions.
