Duties:
- Manage the full accounting and month-end function for the life insurance entity.
- Maintain accurate financial records for policies premiums claims and related transactions under IFRS 17.
- Prepare review and present IFRS 17-compliant financial statements and disclosures.
- Analyse data to highlight key financial trends and business insights.
- Reconcile financial data and support external and internal audits.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Educate stakeholders on IFRS 17 requirements and reporting changes.
- Identify opportunities to enhance reporting processes and systems.
Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- BCom Accounting
- BCom Honours / CTA
- CA(SA)
Experience:
- Completed SAICA Articles
- 35 years post-articles experience.
- Proven Insurance industrybackground with hands-on IFRS 17 exposure.
- Strong track record in month-end close and preparation of financial statements.
- Advantageous: Experience in company tax calculations within the insurance sector.
Skills & Competencies:
- Expert knowledge of IFRS 17 and its application.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in financial systems for IFRS 17 reporting.
- Excellent communication skills to engage and influence stakeholders.
- Collaborative adaptable and able to work across diverse teams.
