Discover Impactful Work:

Supervises and assists line leaders and high-level individual contributors with tasks such as resource management technical and compliance related issues. Plans directs and implements improvements in systems processes and procedures to increase efficiency productivity and quality in the laboratory. Assists the division director in strategic planning business development expansion initiatives and resource allocation.

A day in the Life:

  • Interacts with clients business managers and business development on requests for proposals and project definition. Prepares reviews and approves bids and proposals scope of work and pricing. Negotiates with clients on timelines and pricing.
  • Manages work responsibilities of line leaders as well as prioritizes communications and resources.
  • Reviews and approves laboratory investigation deviations and QA facility and data audits. Leads client and regulatory audits.
  • Prepares and updates revenue projection reports ensures accurate revenue recognition and billing provides 6 to12 month capacity plans for department and drives project profitability.
  • Assists upper management in strategic planning budgeting new capabilities development and other responsibilities.
  • Prepares and implements PPD SOPs and company operational policies. Ensures adherence and makes recommendations to quality system improvements
  • Directs work responsibilities of line leaders/high level individual contributors. Provides mentorship guidance and development to team members.
  • Procures and allocates analytical instrumentation Information Technology space and other resources to appropriate areas based on business need.
  • Supports laboratory department in method/instrumentation troubleshooting laboratory investigations and internal/external conflict resolution.
  • Collaborates globally to foster cooperation and understanding among the different functional groups within the division. Oversees the development and implementation of laboratory systems and processes.

Keys to Success:

Education

Bachelors degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

Experience

  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10 years) or equivalent and relevant combination of education training & experience.
  • 5 years of management responsibility
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Start up and FSP experience is mandatory
  • Experience with managing people based in other countries

In some cases an equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education training and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Work is performed in an office and/or a laboratory and/or a clinical environment with exposure to electrical equipment.
  • Occasionally drives to site or client locations occasionally travels within the United States.
  • Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Rare exposure to skin and lung irritants radiation toxic materials and hazardous waste.
  • Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear garments and gloves.
  • Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions.
  • Frequently stationery for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast simple repeated movements of the fingers hands and wrists.
  • Moderate mobility required.
  • Occasional crouching stooping bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
  • Ability to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Frequently interacts with others relates sensitive information to diverse groups both internally & externally.
