About the Role:
The Shelter Veterinary Services Manager plays a pivotal leadership role within our Shelter Medicine team ensuring the delivery of high-quality consistent and welfare-centred veterinary care across our North Melbourne and Cranbourne shelters.
In this role you will lead coach and develop multidisciplinary veterinary and nursing teams to deliver exceptional clinical care; oversee daily veterinary operations to ensure smooth patient flow timely surgical schedules and best-practice clinical decision-making; and drive compliance with regulatory requirements infection control standards and internal SOPs.
You will also manage budgets roster planning resource allocation and operational reporting while championing continuous improvement and workflow optimisation across both addition you will collaborate closely with Shelter Operations People & Culture and the wider LDH leadership team to support cohesive efficient and welfare-focused service delivery.
Your impact will be felt daily across the lives of the animals in our care and the teams who support them.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Bring
Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (essential)
- Further study in Veterinary Nursing Animal Science Veterinary Technology Veterinary Administration or leadership (desirable)
- Strong understanding of veterinary workflows shelter medicine principles and animal welfare legislation
Experience
- Leadership experience within veterinary nursing clinical operations or shelter medicine
- Demonstrated capability managing multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced high-volume environments
- Experience in SOP development process improvement rostering and budget management
- Strong stakeholder engagement communication and conflict-resolution skills
