DTUs Department of Engineering Technology is seeking a Tenure Track Assistant Professor to join our Business Development section. This is a unique opportunity to establish your academic career while shaping the future of sustainable energy systems and business innovation.

You will join our research section Business Development where you will have colleagues with a mix of research and industrial experience working closely with business leaders policymakers and industry experts to ensure our findings directly address the pressing challenges faced by businesses our section you will be a part of exploring the interplay between economic sustainability and environmental sustainability examining how they create new avenues for business an era where the climate crisis poses significant challenges to organizations nations and global leaders research on the interplay between different facets of sustainable business becomes indispensable.

Our primary research themes include Economic and Environmental Sustainability Leveraging Sustainable Technologies and Business Models and exploring the intersection of Digitalization and Business.

Responsibilities and qualifications
We are seeking an interdisciplinary researcher and educator to contribute to the economics of digitalization in the energy sector with a focus on research and teaching in areas such as:

  • Business models for sustainability in the energy sector: Evaluate and develop sustainable business models and corporate digital responsibility strategies to support the energy transition.
  • Complex systems analysis and modeling: Leverage complexity theory principles and tools such as system dynamics agent-based modeling and network analysis to modeling to electricity grids digitalized energy networks and socio-technical interactions integrating regulatory operational and economic dimensions.
  • Cost-benefit analysis of digital technologies across the energy value chain: Assess the techno-economic impacts of emerging technologies including AI cybersecurity and digital grid solutions to inform investment and policy decisions.

In this role you will draw on yourexpertise in economics engineering digitalization and emerging energy technologies while contributing to holistic solutions for electricity companies and offshore wind energy particular you will have the opportunity to translate cutting-edge research into actionable insights that guide regulators industry and policymakers while contributing to the development of sustainable digitalized energy systems globally.

Your overall focus will be to strengthen the departments research and teaching within energy systems to fulfil the increasing demand for academic policy as well as industrial knowledge within this field and competences across multiple (business/ economics) engineering programs. To do so you will:

  • Advance the research field by identifying knowledge gaps of scientific academic and industrial relevance with an emphasis on digital transformation in energy networks
  • Lead and contribute to international high-visibility research projects through collaborations with industry regulators and academic networks
  • Develop interdisciplinary workshops and research collaborations with national authorities and energy companies
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and system dynamics modelling to support decision-making in complex energy systems
  • Teach and supervise in multiple BEng - and part time diploma-programmes within the above-mentioned fields
  • Co-supervise PhD students
  • Actively participate in departmental and section activities such as meetings seminars and conferences
  • Initiate attract funding for and coordinate research projects

DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages and in time are expected to master both. As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree. To meet the positions requirements the applicant must be regularly present and actively involved in teaching and research activities within the Section and Department.

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.

Salary and terms of employment
The position is a full time position and the appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

Expected starting is 1st of August or according to mutual agreement.
