JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

StudentOrientation & Transition Program (SOTP) is seeking ateam of undergraduate studentsfrom all class levelsat University Park to serve asOrientation Leaders(OLs).Orientation Leaderswillplay a key role in providing a quality transitional experience for all incomingfirst-yearstudents atUniversity Park.We are looking for student leaders who are go-gettersauthenticconscientiousenthusiastic reflective open tonewchallenges and passionate aboutservingPenn Stateand the broader communityto help us do this important work.

As an Orientation Leader students can expect to gain skills in public speaking classroom andeventmanagement customer service collaboration and leadership. OLs will be supported in their personal and professional developmentgoalsincluding the potential for letters of recommendation. Responsibilitieswill include:

  • Servingas apositiverepresentative of the Pennsylvania State University

  • Acting as a guide and mentor for new studentsthroughvariousNSOactivities andsessions

  • IntroducingPenn Stateand its resourcesthrough smallgroup presentationsto students andpanelstotheir families

  • Leadingconversations about the transition from high school to collegeandlife as aPenn Stater

  • Welcoming and checking in newstudentsand their familiestotheir orientation program

  • StaffingSummer and Fall Welcomeevents

  • AttendingPresidents New Student Convocation

  • Providingadditionallogistical and programmatic support for transition programs as needed

Qualifications:

Interested applicants must be current full-time Penn StateUniversity Parkundergraduate studentswhoplanto be enrolled in fall 2026 will earn at least 24 cumulative Penn State credits by the end of the spring2026semester and havemaintaineda minimum 2.5cumulativeGPA.Successful candidatesmustattendandcompletealltrainingprior to the start of NSO programming.Satisfactory performance during training isto continue employment includingembodyingboth the Penn State and SOTP values.
