The New European Bauhaus (NEB) launched in 2021 by President von der Leyen is a key European Commission (EC) policy and funding initiative. It connects the European Green Deal to our daily lives aiming to make living spaces more sustainable inclusive and beautiful. The NEB remains a high priority for the 2024-2029 European Commission.
External communication is central to the NEB Units work. We use our established channels (Facebook Instagram LinkedIn Threads YouTube website newsletters and media relations) to showcase NEB projects inform stakeholders about funding announce milestone events (e.g. the annual NEB Prizes the bi-annual NEB Festival) and convey political messages from EC leadership.
TASKS/REQUIRED SERVICES
The assistant will be crucial in helping the team deliver key communication milestones including the preparations for the 2026 Festival of the New European Bauhaus. This includes a mix of daily weekly and ad-hoc duties related to drafting social media content and managing our online communities.
SOCIAL MEDIA SUPPORT
This task includes:
- Content Creation: Draft and publish daily posts across all NEB social media platforms including identifying content from NEB Community and NEB projects for sharing on the NEB social media platforms and proactively reaching out to the identified projects or organisation to collect information and materials (high quality photos or videos) needed for content creation.
- Social Media Community Management: Monitor NEBs online platforms and media for channels for questions comments DMs and follow-up upon consulting the NEB Unit.
- Social Media Management Linked to the NEB Community: Monitor and respond to information requests on NEB community; direct interest in joining the Community to NEB Community through social media content and alongside other news items where the Community is relevant.
- Social media engagement of the NEB Community: Establish and implement a social media content approach for the NEB Community drafting and publishing content and incorporating the current weekly Community newsletters into a dedicated social media platform (e.g. WhatsApp group LinkedIn page).
- Contribute to the Units strategic approach to the NEB Communitys social media and communication engagement.
- Strategy & Optimisation: Map relevant trends international days and collaboration opportunities.
- Audience Growth: Focus specifically on reaching the 1824 demographic and growing the Threads platform.
- Communication strategy on key events: Support the team in preparing and delivering a social media strategy to communicate on milestone events such as the NEB Festival 2026
- Live Coverage: Provide live social media coverage of events (upon agreement).
- Brand Consistency: Take part in efforts to harmonise and optimise channels regarding visual identity brand recognition tone and consistency.
Skills
Category Requirement
- Experience 25 years in social media and digital communication.
- Working Language English (Fluent/Native).
- Software Skills Knowledge of Canva and mobile video editing (e.g. Edits) is a plus.
- Technical Skills Experience with mobile equipment (e.g. microphone) is a plus.
- EC Knowledge (Plus) Experience working for/with the European Commission; knowledge of EC 2024-2029 priorities and the New European Bauhaus.
- Language (Plus) Knowledge of French is appreciated.
