Job Summary

Job Description

We are partnering with the organization that provides the foundational digital backbone for South Africas economy. With a 50-year history of stability they are now in a pivotal phase of transformation. They are not just a bank clearinghouse anymore; they are actively expanding their ecosystem to integrate Retail and Telecommunications sectors. You would be joining a team operating out of a brand-new state-of-the-art headquarters in Rosebank (moving Dec 2025) tasked with ensuring money moves securely and efficiently across the entire country.

Performance Objectives for Year One

Complete the Core System Modernization: Within the first 12 months take ownership of specific legacy modules and successfully re-architect code and deploy them to the new cloud-based environment ensuring zero downtime for critical national payment streams.
Design Scalable Cross-Sector Solutions: Lead the technical design and implementation of new API integration layers that allow non-banking entities (Retail/Telco) to interface seamlessly with the national payment grid.
Elevate Engineering Standards: actively mentor junior team members and institute rigorous code review processes to ensure the new codebase is clean maintainable and aligned with modern CI/CD best practices.
Drive Full-Stack Delivery: Successfully deliver end-to-end features by managing both the Java back-end complexity and the React/Angular front-end interfaces for internal dispute and settlement systems.
