As a Senior Blood Manufacturing Specialist youll play a hands-on role in transforming donations into safe high-quality blood products that hospitals and patients rely on. What Youll Do
As part of our production team youll ensure each blood component meets the highest standards of safety and quality. Youll:
Process platelet products into Pathogen-Reduced or LVDS (bacterial negative) components
Perform quality control (QC) testing on blood products including:
Running counts on a hematology analyzer
Performing WBC counts on an automated analyzer
Measuring pH levels on platelets
Complete Lot Release and labeling for distribution to hospitals
Prepare and send donor samples to testing laboratories
Collaborate with a mission-driven team dedicated to accuracy efficiency and patient safety

What Were Looking For
Bachelors degree in a science-related field (e.g. Biology Chemistry Medical Technology) or equivalent lab/manufacturing experience
Detail-oriented mindset and commitment to quality standards
Comfortable working with laboratory instruments and following SOPs
Team player with strong communication and organization skills

Position Summary
Under the direction of the department leadership executes quality control testing strategies on Versitis blood supply to ensure regulatory requirements are met and manufactures platelet products according to operational standards. Enhances existing procedures and services with quality that exceeds customer expectations. Demonstrates the ability to take initiative drive productivity and build a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
- Understands and performs laboratory activities to all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
- Performs and evaluates quality control testing on blood products using hematology analyzers pH meters and WBC counting technologies
- Performs blood product manufacturing on RBCs and PLTs
- Maintains equipment by performing daily quality control and preventative maintenance
- Performs testing on proficiency testing for CAP surveys
- Labels blood products according to regulatory requirements
- Accessions and packs blood donor sample tubes for infectious disease testing where applicable
- Performs reconciliations lot release and client sample release of infectious disease testing
- Performs pathogen reduction production process on blood products as applicable
- Performs donor antigen testing and antibody titrations as applicable
- Conducts validation procedures to qualify new production processes
- Assists in annual revisions of procedures
- Supports trainers by coordinating and maintaining staff training and competencies
- Maintains competencies in required tasks in Core Production and/or Hospital Services
- Maintains equipment reagent inventory levels for daily laboratory operations
- Delegates monitors and motivates team members
- Works in partnership with Leads and Supervisor to improve communication between management and employees
- Works weekend holiday rotations and on-call as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors Degree in biology or related science preferred
- Associates Degree in a chemical physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology or other experience may be accepted by management required
Experience
- 1-3 years 1 year of related work experience in a health care setting preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret Standard Operating Procedures maintenance instructions and other department manuals required
- Above average attention to detail and problem-solving skills required
- Demonstrates sensitivity and seeks to understand customers perspective required
- Ability to adjust work activities based on volume priorities and interruptions required
- Flexibility to work independently and across the department required
- Accountable to key performance indicators and department goals required
