Service Development Lead Pharmacist

Job Description:

This role requires the selected person to support Practices Primary Care Networks federations CCGs and key strategic areas. To drive operational excellence in service delivery across the region and maximize the uptake of all services through exemplary individual performance and through coaching and development of the clinical team.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by organisational requirements / the business objectives of the organisation.

To set and maintain the highest levels of professional conduct whilst representing the company and demonstrate an exemplary attitude that is supportive of colleagues and broader company objectives.

To impact on regional commercial activity significantly and positively by demonstrating outstanding commercial awareness in setting an exemplary individual standard and through the development of the clinical team by:

  • Having full awareness of and deliver the highest level of commercial activity within the region and be accountable for individual and regional commercial performance.

  • Mapping out full scale of opportunity within regional diaries and working with colleagues to realise opportunity.

  • Supporting and intensively coaching the clinical teams to grow a culture of excellence.

  • Joining clinical team on strategic and commercial field visits. (For example days 1s in key sites).

  • Strategically delivering the highest quality clinical reviews at sites to uncover the bigger opportunity (sites with key influencers and decision makers new sites new PCNs retain clinical knowledge and billability).

  • Creating accountability within the region; including but not restricted to holding regular weekly accountability meetings (WAM) and business development calls with clinical & SDL/P teams.

  • Constructively challenging SDL/P/CP team on opportunities not realized to drive their development. o Creating strategic action plans and execute to uncover new areas increase company footprint and drive growth.

  • Reconnecting with historical NHS sites/contacts to expand network (those practices we used to work in but have had no contact for 2yrs those practices that purchased platforms in the past etc).

  • Utilizing existing network relationships to expand footprint by way of advocacy and direct referral. o Deploy strategic and creative plans to turn vision to reality (e.g. gaining access to PCN/ CCG).


To increase the volume of and accelerate the rate of NHS referrals by the clinical team to the SDL team whilst maintaining the highest quality and conversion of those referrals. (SDLP acts as triage of practice level opportunities appropriate for wider PCN opportunities). Achieved by working in collaboration with clinical team and in synergy with the service development team.

Proactively seek out and develop relationships with clinical and non-clinical (Business managers PCN managers) key decision makers and influencers.

To support coach motivate and empower the clinical team to succeed in their commercial development.

Through supportive leadership identify areas of underperformance or high performance within the clinical team to facilitate sharing of best practice/information and to support the ongoing development of individuals in collaboration with the Regional Business Manager.

To drive directly commissioned NHS business growth to increase regional revenue in terms of clinical days & platform sales (e.g. QOF DP Attend2 Platforms) by:

  • Being proficient in understanding NHS structures policy initiatives and funding streams.

  • Keeping up to date with the changing NHS landscape and utilize this knowledge to engage with strategic decision makers.

  • Communicating any developments to funding models to the wider company to allow rapid replication of success.

  • Being an expert in NHS funding streams and confidently advising NHS organisations on the various funds available and how other organisations have utilized NHS funding streams to commission our services.

  • Having a deep understanding of NHS client needs and working with the wider company to allow development and adaptation of services to meet those needs.

To drive industry-donated services in line with clinical needs lists (CNL) and within budget aspirations.

To increase the level of Primary Care Network Federation and CCG working.

To be accountable for coaching and developing of the regional clinical team for pull through and conversion (self gens) of opportunities available at practice PCN Federation and CCG level.

To always act in a professional manner and fulfil any other duties which may be required to benefit the company.
