Bachelors Degree in Human Services Sociology or a related field of study
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience including demonstrated competency in project management and strategic planning including change management
A minimum of 5 years of experience in community/social development specifically working with Indigenous non-profits organizations leaders community and government
Lived experience with traditional Indigenous communities history culture and current environment. Preference will be given to First Nations Metis Inuit or non registered Indigenous persons within the Canadian context. If you are Indigenous we encourage you to self-identify in your application
Assets:
An emphasis on Indigenous Studies within your post-secondary education
Deep knowledge of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action and MMIWG Calls for Justice
Skills required for success:
Significant understanding of Indigenous communities their history culture and current environment with a personal value base compatible with diversity inclusion and human rights advocacy
Experience with research and evaluation practices that utilize inclusive ethical and decolonized methodologies
Strong ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse groups including internal departments and external community partners
Ability to take an intersectional approach thinking creatively to solve complex problems and integrate work across the corporation
Excellent presentation facilitation and writing skills with the ability to summarize complex information for senior leadership and Council

You will act as a content expert and relationship builder fostering integrated approaches with internal teams Knowledge Keepers Elders and Indigenous governments to ensure our work honors our commitments to the community.
What will you do
Plan and lead complex and sensitive projects such as renaming initiatives memorial site development and large-scale engagement conferences related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG)
Provide strategic support and advice to leadership translating corporate strategies into operational plans and ensuring business processes align with the branchs reconciliation goals
Develop data and evaluation frameworks that utilize Indigenous worldviews and decolonized approaches to research ensuring projects are measured meaningfully
Cultivate and maintain meaningful relationships with community members non-profit leaders and representatives from First Nation and Métis governments to support joint operational planning
Identify strategic issuessuch as urban reserves or UNDRIP implementationand independently research and recommend solutions to the Director
Prepare briefing notes council reports and responses to inquiries from the community and elected officials regarding the sections initiatives
