Learn more at the Director of Visual Analytics R&D Data Science you will own the strategic vision and execution of data visualization initiatives across Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine R&D Data Science & Digital Health (DSDH). You will coordinate visual analytics and design across multiple products / workstreams guiding a team dedicated to translating complex data into accessible insightful and engaging visual products. Your leadership will champion a data-driven culture and elevate how insights inform decision-making at all levels of the organization.

You will be responsible for:

Leadership & Vision: Design and execute on a roadmap for data visualization within the R&D space establishing a found for growth and catering to exploration of new capabilities.
Team Oversight & Development: Lead mentor and enable members of the team promoting best practices and technical perfection.
Engagement: Partner with senior leadership data science and business units to understand sophisticated needs and translate them into scalable visualization solutions.
Governance & Standards: Establish and maintain standards for UX/UI design and data storytelling to ensure consistency quality and usability.
Portfolio & Project Management: Lead all aspects of prioritization and delivery of multiple projects balancing pivotal initiatives with operational needs.
Technology & Tools: Stay informed of emerging visualization technologies and the intersection of visualization and AI to continuously improve capabilities.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Education

Bachelors degree in BI IT Computer Science or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Skills & Expertise

10 years of experience in analytics data visualization or related fields. 8 years of experience with an advanced degree.
Experience developing teams of visualization experts and/or data scientists.
Understanding and experience in graph modeling and taxonomy. navigation (representation of relationships and ontologies).
Experience in biomedical visualization (e.g. pathways).
Extensive hands-on experience with Tableau Power BI or similar tools.
Experience working in both Python and R.
Good understanding of database structures and query languages including SQL SPARQL and/or Cypher required.
Experience with visualization frameworks such as Neo4j Bloom Gephi Cytoscape Graphistry and D3 preferred.
Demonstrated success in strategic planning partner management and project delivery.
Superb communication interpersonal and change-management skills.
Knowledge of UX/UI principles experience with GenAI and experience with HTML CSS is a plus.
Industry experience in pharmaceuticals or healthcare analytics is preferred.

Other:

The primary location for this position is Titusville NJ. There will be consideration for this position to be located in Springhouse PA or Cambridge MA.
This position requires up to 25% travel.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $146000 to $251850 USD

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
