About Your Opportunity

As the Drought Planning Engineer you will set the strategic direction for Seqwaters drought management planning and lead the coordination and control of significant projects and programmes related to drought resilience initiatives developing both grid and off-grid drought response frameworks for the Water Security Programme. You will drive drought response planning including off-grid plans modelling and engineering assessments for drought readiness and initiatives to improve understanding of asset performance and readiness. Additionally you will assist in prioritising drought response initiatives and ensure clear effective communication on progress.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain drought response frameworks including grid and off-grid plans the Drought Response Implementation Plan (DRIP) and associated programme management tools for the Water Security Programme.
  • Lead and manage drought planning projects and initiatives coordinating investigations modelling and engineering assessments to identify response options monitor progress and report on performance against plans and budgets.
  • Provide strategic and technical advice on drought management policies prioritisation of issues asset risks and scenario testing to mitigate network risks.
  • Enhance water security and asset readiness by contributing engineering expertise to optimise network capability during drought events and improve understanding of drought-specific asset performance and condition.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure integrated planning coordination of restrictions and alignment on drought resilience strategies.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Civil or Environmental Engineering or similar/relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in strategic drought management planning including development and delivery of drought-related initiatives and demand management programmes.
  • Proven project management experience including managing consultancies and coordinating stakeholders for drought response planning.
  • Strong ability to prepare technical reports briefing notes and presentations for senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement including regulatory authorities research organisations and consultation groups.
  • Experience in developing policies and strategies that drive transformative change continuous improvement or innovation preferably within a water or utility environment.

This role will be offered on a permanent full-time basis with a competitive salary plus 12.75% superannuation.
