Key Responsibilities

• Design build and modify precision tools dies jigs and fixtures.
• Repair and maintain existing tooling to ensure optimal production efficiency.
• Operate various machine tools including lathes mills grinders and EDM machines to fabricate components.
• Interpret blueprints schematics and technical drawings to determine tool specifications.
• Perform precision measurements using gauges micrometers calipers and CMMs to verify accuracy.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling problems implementing effective corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams on tool design improvements and new product development.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completed a recognized Tool Maker apprenticeship or possess 5 years of equivalent experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in operating and setting up conventional and CNC machine tools (milling turning grinding EDM).
• Expert ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints schematics and apply GD&T principles.
• Skilled in the use of a wide range of precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
• Strong knowledge of various tool steels carbides and heat treatment processes.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills for diagnosing and repairing complex tooling.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g. SolidWorks Mastercam).
• Experience with TIG/MIG welding for tool repair and fabrication.
• Knowledge of advanced metrology equipment such as CMMs or optical comparators.
• Experience in the design and fabrication of jigs and fixtures.
• Understanding of various heat treatment processes for tool steels.
