Key Responsibilities

• Design fabricate and repair precision tools dies jigs and fixtures.
• Operate and program various manual and CNC machine tools (e.g. lathes mills grinders EDM).
• Interpret complex engineering blueprints schematics and CAD models for tool specifications.
• Perform precise measurements and inspections using metrology equipment to ensure accuracy.
• Troubleshoot diagnose and resolve tooling malfunctions and wear issues.
• Select appropriate materials and apply heat treatment processes for tool longevity.
• Maintain and calibrate production tooling to ensure optimal performance and quality.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training.
• Proven proficiency in operating and setting up manual and CNC machining equipment (mills lathes grinders EDM).
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints schematics and GD&T specifications.
• Expert-level use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers calipers bore gauges and CMMs.
• In-depth knowledge of various tool steels alloys and other materials used in tool manufacturing.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for tooling issues and manufacturing processes.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g. SolidWorks Mastercam)
• CNC programming experience (G-code conversational)
• Experience with welding and/or heat treatment for tool repair and modification
• Familiarity with advanced metrology equipment (e.g. CMM optical comparators)
