The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design build and repair precision tools dies jigs fixtures and gauges.
• Operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including lathes mills grinders and EDMs.
• Interpret complex blueprints schematics and engineering drawings to determine specifications.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling problems implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Perform precision measurements using instruments such as micrometers calipers and gauges to ensure accuracy.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on tooling to ensure longevity and consistent performance.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and quality control standards throughout the tool-making process.

Recommended Qualifications

• Journeyman Tool Maker certification or 5 years of equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (lathes mills grinders EDMs).
• Expertise in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints schematics and GD&T.
• Demonstrated skill in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers calipers gauges CMMs).
• Strong understanding of various materials (metals alloys plastics) and their machining properties.

Bonus Qualifications

• CAD/CAM software proficiency (e.g. SolidWorks Mastercam)
• Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g. CMM optical comparator)
• Basic welding or fabrication skills
• Prior experience with EDM or Wire EDM processes
