The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Charlotte that are seeking Tool Makers. Key Responsibilities

• Design build and modify precision tools dies jigs and fixtures.
• Operate and set up a variety of machine shop equipment including lathes mills grinders and CNC machines.
• Interpret complex engineering blueprints schematics and technical drawings.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance troubleshooting and repair of existing tooling.
• Conduct precision measurements using metrology tools such as micrometers calipers and gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.
• Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for tool fabrication based on application requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools (mills lathes grinders EDMs).
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints schematics and technical drawings.
• Expertise in precision measurement techniques and metrology instruments (micrometers calipers gauges).
• Solid understanding of metallurgy material properties and heat treatment processes.
• Completion of a formal Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship or 5 years of equivalent experience.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software for tool design and CNC programming.
• Proficiency in advanced metrology equipment such as CMMs.
• Familiarity with EDM or Wire EDM processes.
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels.
