The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design fabricate and assemble precision tools dies jigs and fixtures.
• Perform maintenance repair and modification of existing tooling.
• Operate and set up a variety of machine tools including lathes mills grinders and EDMs.
• Interpret complex blueprints schematics and engineering drawings.
• Conduct precision measurements using various metrology equipment to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tool performance and functionality.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent formal training.
• Proven experience operating a variety of manual and CNC machine tools (e.g. lathes mills grinders EDM).
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints schematics and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers calipers gauge blocks and optical comparators.
• Solid understanding of various metal properties tooling materials heat treatment processes and their application in tool manufacturing.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g. SolidWorks Mastercam).
• Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g. CMM operation laser scanners).
• TIG/MIG welding experience for tool repair and modification.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or 5S methodology.
