The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products components or systems from concept to production optimizing for manufacturing processes.
• Create detailed 2D engineering drawings 3D CAD models and specifications using industry-standard software.
• Conduct design analysis including material selection stress calculations and tolerance stack-ups to ensure product performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with manufacturing production and quality teams to implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) and technical documentation ensuring accuracy and adherence to engineering standards.
• Participate in prototype development testing and validation to refine designs and resolve technical challenges.
• Investigate and implement continuous improvement opportunities for existing products and manufacturing processes.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Design or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks Inventor CATIA) for design modeling and drafting.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g. machining injection molding sheet metal fabrication) and materials science.
• Demonstrated experience applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and their application.
• Proven ability to take designs from concept through to production including prototyping and testing.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or other simulation software.
• Advanced understanding and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Hands-on prototyping assembly or testing experience.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
