The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Source evaluate and qualify new suppliers for raw materials and components.
• Negotiate pricing terms and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions.
• Create and manage purchase orders ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of materials.
• Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with production to ensure material availability and minimize stockouts.
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities without compromising quality or delivery.
• Evaluate supplier performance addressing issues related to quality delivery and compliance.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality departments on material specifications and supplier development.

Recommended Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of direct purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SAP Oracle) for procurement and inventory management.
• Demonstrated strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications blueprints or engineering drawings.
• Proven ability to analyze market trends cost data and optimize inventory levels.

Bonus Qualifications

• Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience with global sourcing and international logistics.
• Certification in purchasing or supply chain management (e.g. CPSM CSCP).
• Proficiency with advanced ERP/MRP system functionalities beyond basic transaction entry.
