Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join an established acute hospital team in Cambridge. This role involves delivering specialist assessment and therapeutic intervention to adults presenting with communication and swallowing difficulties in an acute medical setting.

You will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to provide timely evidence-based care to patients with a range of acquired communication disorders and dysphagia needs. This position is ideal for an experienced Band 6 or Band 7 clinician with strong clinical skills in acute care and dysphagia management.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will:
Provide specialist assessment and treatment for adults with acquired communication impairments and dysphagia in an acute hospital environment.
Independently manage a dysphagia caseload including patients with complex medical presentations.
Contribute to rapid assessment and clinical decision-making within a fast-paced acute setting.
Work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to support safe and effective patient care.
Advise and educate patients carers and colleagues regarding communication and swallowing strategies.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role you must have:
A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
Current HCPC registration.
Significant experience working in acute adult hospital settings.
Proven dysphagia competency and the ability to independently manage a dysphagia caseload.
Strong communication clinical reasoning and organisational skills.
