Objectives of the function:
- To design develop validate and improve production tooling jigs and fixtures through robust engineering methods ensuring manufacturing performance ergonomics safety and cost efficiency.
- To reverse-engineer existing tools where documentation is missing or incomplete and generate complete 3D/2D datasets for manufacturing.
Mission & Task : - Design and develop tooling jigs fixtures gauges lifting devices and assembly aids.
- Conduct criticality assessment for jigs & fixtures.
- Perform reverse engineering of existing tooling: measurements 3D scanning interpretation redesign and documentation.
- Produce high-quality 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5/V6 and/or SolidWorks.
- Conduct tolerance analyses GD&T application and functional studies.
- Support tooling fabrication commissioning and shop-floor validation.
- Perform tooling functional trials and capability checks.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage tooling projects (planning cost supplier interface).
- Ensure compliance with safety and ergonomic requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects (Lean Kaizen SMED).
- Prepare technical documentation BOMs routing sheets and validation reports.
- Strong mechanical design capability
- High proficiency in CATIA and/or SolidWorks
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining fabrication welding)
- Reverse engineering know-how (measurement scan data interpretation)
- Understanding of GD&T ISO standards and technical drawing rules
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Shop-floor practicality and hands-on approach
- Ability to manage multiple tooling projects simultaneously
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
Qualifications :
2/3 years Higher Education Diploma
- Mechanical Engineering Technician (Advantageous)
4/5 years Higher Education Diploma
- BEng / BTech in Mechanical Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering (Preferred)
