Emergency Physician Full-Time


Join our team in beautiful Northern Ontario!


The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is seeking a full-time Emergency Physician to join our innovative multi-disciplinary referral and teaching hospital in Timmins.


The Emergency Department at the Timmins and District Hospital sees an average of 100-120 patients per day (40000 visits annually). As a district hospital serving a catchment area of 110000 we offer a comprehensive community practice with access to most major specialties and imaging modalities such as MRI CT and Nuclear Medicine.


There is also an opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.


You will be joining a close knit team that provides exceptional patient and family-driven care in a supportive trauma-informed and culturally safe manner. We are looking for passionate driven individuals to join us in our Mission: Providing Exemplary Care to Northerners.


Position Requirements

Candidates must:

  • have (or be eligible for) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Emergency Medicine CCFP-EM (preferred) or CCFP
  • be (or eligible to be) licensed to practice as an Emergency Physician (or Family Physician) in the Province of Ontario
  • have (or be eligible for) certification in ACLS or ATLS
  • have (or be be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage
  • have excellent clinical skills
  • have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care


Remuneration

Compensation is based on a combination of a hourly wage Fee-for-Service and a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan.


Incentives

  • The Timmins and District Hospital provides an incentive package up to $60000 over four years.
  • Applicants are eligible for a repayable interest-free loan up to $150000.
  • Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $84851 incentive over a 4-year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a full-time practice in Timmins.

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a 215-bed district hospital serving a local population of 41000 and a catchment area of 110000. The Timmins and District Hospital is a fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of Medical Surgical Critical Care Maternal/Child Long Term Care and Mental Health and Addiction Services. Affiliated with the NOSM University in addition to several colleges and universities in Ontario our hospital actively supports ongoing learning opportunities for medical residents and learners post-secondary and high school students.
