The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling electrical testing devices and components according to engineering specifications and quality standards. The technician will have experience in electronics or precision mechanical assembly and a commitment to safety and accuracy.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assemble electrical and mechanical components using hand tools power tools and specialized equipment.
- Follow detailed work instructions schematics and assembly drawings to ensure product quality and consistency.
- Perform tasks such as wiring soldering crimping and mechanical fastening.
- Inspect parts and completed assemblies for defects and compliance with specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities and report any issues to supervisors.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve assembly challenges.
- Support inventory control by tracking parts usage and reporting shortages.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean organized work area.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Competencies
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
- Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with ESD-safe practices and basic electrical safety.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry.
- Experience assembling electrical testing equipment or similar precision devices.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or 5S workplace organization.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
- 13 years of experience in assembly preferably in electronics or instrumentation manufacturing.
- IPC certification (e.g. IPC-A-610 or IPC/WHMA-A-620).
Physical Requirements
- Physical demands: Regularly lift 50 pounds and use of hand and wrists when typing information on keyboard. Must be able to twist reach overhead crawl stoop and bend to the floor. Occasionally lift 50 pounds.
- Visual accommodation: Must be able to read written materials and instructions to communicate with co-workers and customers.
- Hearing accommodation: Must be able to make and receive phone calls.
- Working conditions: Employee works in a clean environment with little exposure to fumes and dust. Work may occasionally be performed in a manufacturing type environment.
