About the Job

At JLL we are driving sustainability through everything that we do across all service lines and job positions. Specifically we are growing our Sustainability practice to drive end-to-end sustainability solutions in real estate from site selection to decommissioning.

In this role you will work directly with one of our high-profile clients. As the leader of the JLL Sustainable Operations Team you will develop a deep knowledge of the needs of our clients program ensuring they are capturing JLLs full suite of sustainability services. You will act as an accelerator and collaborator within JLL services enabling our client to increase engagement across stakeholders and progress towards goals. You will ensure sustainability integration across business functions throughout the real estate lifecycle and influence behavioral changes required to achieve scope of work delivery and goals. This role requires aprogrammatic approach to embed sustainability thinking and practices into space selection fit-outs occupancy operations maintenance and experience.

This position is hybrid requiring in-office presence and site visits periodically.

Candidate must have the ability to influence senior stakeholders as they will be tasked with creating value added solutions for our client. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to develop and present executive level business cases. The role requires regular interaction with account leadership clients service providers operational and support staff and will be part of a fast-paced environment consistently charged with handling multiple demands and priorities. The candidate must be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively manage through stressful situations and consistently make high-quality decisions. Candidate must have superb people management and documentation skills and deliver thoroughness and accuracy in all tasks. The role is critical to the success of the client relationship in driving energy & environmental performance management risk mitigation and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development implementation and continuous improvement of all JLL sustainability activities across the client real estate portfolio
  • Contribute to the client corporate sustainability strategy and drive the delivery of key objectives
  • Develop drive and continuously improve client facing rhythm of the business activities including monthly and quarterly business reviews and annual operational planning
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance on ways to enhance and expand service delivery to the client including leveraging supply chain partners internal collaborations and the broader JLL Sustainability Platform
  • Own annual development and execution of a multi-faceted Strategic Energy and Sustainability Plan targeting portfolio-wide reduction of emissions energy consumption and water use aligned with client goals and requirements
  • Establish strong working relationships with internal and external partners to effectively manage and deliver on energy and sustainability targets
  • Effectively network cross-functionally to collaborate with other JLL service lines on the account (technology finance projects IFM consultants and procurement) to elevate the sustainability mission and objectives and drive implementation where most organic within the business
  • With cross-functional view effectively manage changes in partnership with stakeholders which have the potential to impact sustainability objectives
  • Ensure success stories are tracked and communicated to ensure a high level of awareness and engagement is achieved with regards to the overall sustainability program and clients success
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking and proactive management in bringing new ideas and solutions to the client and ensure they are rolled out effectively
  • Develop and enhance systems and processes for delivering best practice sustainability performance and use of utility/sustainability management systems for monitoring and/or reporting purposes
  • Manage an effective sustainable operations team capable of delivering according to scope of work and schedule
  • Provide SME input and own program components (e.g. content development maintenance) related to SME area
  • Provide technical expertise strategic leadership and support for all various client facilities on sustainability issues
  • Establish and maintain regulatory oversight framework to proactively identify legislative changes and compliance requirements as they relate to energy and sustainability; ensure audit preparedness document compliance and execute corrective actions as needed to achieve complete regulatory alignment

Sound like you To apply you need to be/have:

  • University Degree (Science engineering math or related fields)
  • Passionate about working towards a sustainable future
  • An excellent understanding of the key sustainability issues for corporate occupiers of real estate including but not limited to; decarbonization embodied carbon circularity resource preservation biodiversity climate risk health & wellbeing and social value creation
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated experience with change management across multi-faceted situations and cross-functional teams; change management certification is desirable
  • Experience working with corporate clients commercial property property managers and an understanding of the landlord and tenant relationship is desirable
  • Excellent ability to build relationships with clients and their internal teams
  • A strong track record integrating sustainability into organizations operations
  • Demonstrated people management experience
  • Experience working in a collaborative way with clients and other stakeholders to develop and implement ambitious and robust sustainability programs
  • Proven project management experience and excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in written and numeric work
  • Ability to obtain buy-in and engagement from employees at all levels
  • Operates with a sense of urgency and is decisive
  • An authentic leader stimulates action with a balanced leadership style of control and influence
