Whats the job

We are seeking dynamic forward-thinking Heads of Department to lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced rapidly evolving environment. This role requires strong leadership sharp analytical thinking and the ability to navigate complexity while delivering results.

The ideal candidate brings a can-do attitude high self-awareness and a low-ego leadership style - inspiring confidence collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to set direction and drive performance.
  • Strong financial understanding including budgeting forecasting and aligning spend with strategic priorities.
  • Awareness of sales challenges and commercial levers that impact performance.
  • Highly analytical with strong decision-making skills.
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma or other business process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure manage competing priorities and lead through change.
  • Strong communicator and confident collaborator with cross-functional teams.
  • Positive solutions-focused mindset with high emotional intelligence.

Who you are:
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Minimum 5 years senior leadership experience within higher education or vocational education.

  • Proven success in academic administration governance quality assurance or regulatory compliance leadership roles.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing academic systems processes and cross-functional teams.

  • Strong understanding of TEQSA ASQA ESOS CRICOS and Higher Education Standards Framework requirements.

  • Strategic and operational leadership capability across complex portfolios.

  • Strong knowledge of academic governance regulatory frameworks and quality management.
